Author bio

Author Mikki Morrissette is the Choice Mother of two, and a long-time freelance journalist, editor and writer. She knows hundreds of single women who are thinking about this decision or who are active Choice Moms.

In her past life, she has authored biographies for young readers (her book about Nancy Kerrigan sold 80,000 copies) as well as the novel "Ocean of the Dead," about two young wanderers who meet in Madagascar and travel from island to island until one of them self-destructs. She helped launch Time Inc. Custom Publishing, was a long-time contributor to Sports Illlustrated for Kids, produced a CD-ROM about the Vietnam War for The New York Times, has been a communications consultant for organizations including Girl Scouts of the USA and Wellstone Action, and is developing the Be-Mondo website to inspire and inform teenagers around the world about global issues. She was associate producer of a documentary about the cult of trephination, which aired on The Learning Channel, and involved interviewing people in the U.S. and Europe about why they drilled a hole in their head for "enlightenment."

Morrissette lived in New York City for 18 years. She returned to her home state of Minnesota when her daughter was 3, where she added to her family with the birth of her son.
